DEVELOPING COACHES FOR AFRICA

The Coaching Centre, in association with The Da Vinci Institute is proud to offer  a truly integral, experiential and innovative Masters Programme for executive, business and organisational coaches:

A Master of Science (MOTI) Degree in Coaching

We are offering a ground–breaking Master’s Programme for coaches who work within  organisations through integrating the understanding of self, others, systems, management and leadership competencies,  in order to positively impact on society at large.

The Coaching Centre and The Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management have entered into a partnership in which we are able to offer the first South African MSc (MOTI) degree with a focus on Coaching.  This degree will comprehensively address the integral (tangible and intangible aspects of the individual and the collective) needs of business, organisations, and executive managers and leaders – in managing Technology, Innovation, People and Systems within a coaching context.

As reflective practitioners, you as coach, working within business and organisational structures, will achieve the following:

•    Qualify for a SA accredited MSc Degree (registered with the CHE) through The Da Vinci Institute.
•    Develop yourself as an integral coach   through developing your coaching in key areas of individual and organisational experience.
•    Receive a qualification which specializes in the field of management and leadership as related to coaching.
•    Use your work experience to develop your coaching practice and research the growing field of coaching.
•    Learn from interfacing directly with other managers and leaders.
•    Be linked through The Coaching Centre and The Da Vinci Institute to relevant institutions and coaching bodies.
•    Build your portfolio of coaching to apply for registration with the ICF or WABC
•    Be part of the Global Coaching Community and our own SA professional body, COMENSA

This degree is for practitioner coaches who are committed to life-long learning, and who wish to work with individuals who are committed to their personal growth and work excellence.  It will equip coaches to work with those who initiate socio-economic transformation within South Africa and who contribute towards the development of individuals, organisations and the community as a whole.

What do we mean by ‘the management’ of people, innovation, technology and systems?

Coaches will be equipped to understand and build coaching processes through developing understanding, practice and research into the following domains of experience:

•    People: Self, Others and Social Contexts extends knowledge of self and others into a complete learning design application whereby students develop and coach others within their milieu.  Mindful that social contexts extend outside organisational boundaries, students will be able to research the degree to which a human community is sustainably productive because of the prevailing levels of mutual trust, confidence and respect
•    Innovation, Creative Thinking and Problem Solving develops the ability to create an environment in which new ideas and thinking are translated into observable practice and tangible bottom-line benefits.
•    Technology develops the ability to understand the pervasive impact that technology has on any organisation, and facilitates managers and leaders’ appropriate decision-making that will ensure competitive advantage.
•    Systems develops full spectrum systems thinking and causal loop processes, such that extremely powerful problem and opportunity identification can be executed.  Students will be able to unpack current and future integrated strategies for organisational renewal within the domain of coaching for their clients.
•    Management and Leadership Competence integrates all management and leadership knowledge into a full organisational leadership recommendation which the coach will be able to facilitate.

The Learning Programme is specifically designed to enable you as coach to work with individuals within an organisation to realise their true potential, by gaining an integral  , understanding of the demands on management and leadership, and thus developing leadership coaching capabilities to supporting your clients to -

•    Integrally develop themselves to lead multi-discipline teams tasked to facilitate business improvement and socio-economic transformation •    Acquire the competence to lead a system (self, others, and cultures) and to develop technology and innovation in related activities to meet their business objectives

The Learning Process:  a first in SA

Through creating a present time temporary organization and experiential learning environment, coaches will be working with and coaching managers and leaders at the interface of their business and organizations.  The modules are structured to use an integrative approach that is developmental and which adds to the competencies of coaches interested in living systems, while developing a second tier consciousness to facilitate growth through coaching.  Each coach will then apply their multi-perspective experience to research their area of passion in coaching.

Faculty:

Students will have access to faculty who were the first in the world to acquire their professional doctorates and masters in the field of executive coaching, and to the excellent faculty of The Da Vinci Institute.  This highly specialised faculty – who work both locally and internationally, will teach and supervise students, who in turn will benefit from the faculty’s ‘hands-on’ experience of coaching in organisations across the fields of management  and leadership levels.
