The Coaching Centre’s perspective to finding a solution with our clients is through the use of integral thinking. The integral approach acknowledges that a more effective way with which to view situations is through the use of a holistic and comprehensive map that can be used to identify individual and collective experiences. This interdisciplinary language can dramatically assist the acceleration of the transfer of knowledge, skills and practice in order to “optimize the potential that people already have but may not be utilizing or expressing” (Integral Institute, 2004).
An integral perspective looks at a situation/problem/or opportunity whether personal, social, cultural, organizational, ecological or international – and attempts to identify all of the important variables that contribute to this through the use of an Integral Operating System (IOS).
The Integral approach thus elicits solutions that acknowledge and incorporate all of these important factors, without excluding or denying any of them—because all of them are clearly affecting the present situation and the problems being generated, and “anything less than a truly Integral approach might actually make matters worse, not better.” Integral Institute
